I (Connie) felt the babies move for the first time on Saturday evening. I’ve wanted to write about it since it happened, but honestly, when I think about it I kind of go speechless. (I know, hard for you to believe that I’m speechless…lol) But, I’m going to put some thoughts down and we’ll see if they make any sense.
Now, I know that the creation of life can be explained scientifically. We’ve watched the videos – National Geographic was especially informative. But, there are aspects of this phenomenon that, while maybe not miraculous, leave me awestruck. One egg. One sperm. They carry everything needed to create a being so complex that we can’t replicate it with technology – not exactly. Emotions. Reasoning. Fluid movement. But before any of that, three sets of fingers and toes. Three noses. Six eyes and ears. It is a truly amazing process. Life. It’s a state that distinguishes us from inanimate objects. We are incubating three lives. We will provide the necessities for them to sustain this state. Live. To have an exciting or fulfilling life. This…we’ll invest the most here – and I don’t mean money or things. We’ll give our hearts and souls to guide them in a manner that allows them to discover how to live. In this moment, though, I live for the flutters created by their movement and the flutters of excitement in my own stomach when I think about this wild adventure we’re undertaking.
