As Hunger Games fans Diane and I have heard and said this sentence many times. We had no idea how it would play out in our lives until an ultrasound on September 22, 2015. But, let me back up just a bit in the storytelling.
On August 25th, 2015 Diane underwent our first round of artificial insemination. During the two-week waiting period before we could do a pregnancy test she read a lot of information about the chances of success on the first try, having multiples, etc. Logically we thought that having twins would be great. We wanted more than one child and with twins we could accomplish that decision at once. Realistically, though, we knew that there was a possibility that the first attempt would not work. Heck, the second and third attempt might not work. So, we put the idea of multiples out of our heads and focused our hope on a single pregnancy on the first try. After all, the chance of multiples was something like 5%. Two weeks of waiting was torture. We did our best to keep busy. On September 9th we had a positive pregnancy test. On the 22nd we headed in for our first ultrasound. The layout of the room allowed me to see the ultrasound tech’s screen before she turned the monitor on for Diane to see what was happening. Based on what I saw on the screen I knew that we were already up to two babies. However, Diane hadn’t seen anything yet and wasn’t in ‘the know’. When the tech reached up to turn the monitor on for Diane the transducer shifted in just the right direction – and what I saw caused me to say “Was that another one?!” If you ask Diane she’ll tell you that I screeched. I don’t screech. ;-) Then the ultrasound tech said ‘let me count’. Sure enough – Baby A, Baby B, and Baby C were suddenly a part of our lives. The odds were definitely in our favor!

The odds are also in these three little ones' favor, because we all know that they couldn't ask for better parents. Our whole family is so excited for you and can't wait to watch your journey into parenthood!!!
